Emily Gates is a Hawai’i project intern with Cascadia Research Collective who recently moved from her home state of Nebraska to the Pacific Northwest. She is a senior at Oregon State University pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree with a specialization in Marine Conservation Biology. She has plans to attend the Masters of Environmental Studies program at Evergreen State College in the Fall. When she’s not interning or studying, she loves spending time with her boyfriend, their two teenage daughters, and the family dog. She also loves hiking, beach combing, and gardening. Emily is thrilled for the opportunity to intern with Cascadia Research Collective on the Hawaii Photo ID project.
