Alterations in shipping lanes to protect whales off California
Two articles were published on May 31, 2013 that describe changes enacted to alter the routes of shipping lanes near the ports of San Francisco and Los Angeles. The new routes are designed to move ships away from areas that are frequented by whales in order to reduce the likelihood of collisions between ships and whales.
